Goals for the New Year
I've been doing quite a bit of thinking about my goals for the new year over the past week or so and I've come up with some really exciting goals. Last year I came up with some resolutions and this year I'm calling them 'goals' because I'm really not a big fan of New Years Resolutions. The word resolutions implies that you're trying to 'resolve' something - that something needs to be fixed. Personally, I don't believe that's a good way to begin your year. If you're going to take a step into bettering yourself, you should take baby steps.
The next biggest thing is to make sure you continue to update your goals throughout the year. If you're only reflecting on your goals once a year, it's less likely you'll conquer them like you wanted. It can be as simple as writing them down on paper at the beginning of the year and returning to that same journal once a month to reflect on how the past few years have gone.
MY GOALS
Blogging // At this point I'm about two years (almost!) into my blogging career and I've loved every minute of it. This year I'm hoping to make bigger strides in my overall content and I'm hoping to bring some new, fun and interesting things to TDD this year.
Creatively // I also want to shift more of my focus to some more creative aspects - more writing, learning about videography, etc. I've recently become so interested in videography and YouTube and I'm working on trying it out a little more. I've created my first vlog and I'm working on ways to make it more creative for the future. Even more, I'd love to start working on some different styles of videos to learn more about the entire process. The main reason for trying vlogging this year was to get a feel for editing and filming and I've really loved it. Stay tuned for more to come!
Time Management // Though social media is a huge aspect of blogging and staying connected with other bloggers, I still spend too much time on my own personal social media accounts as well. I have some goals to spend less time on social media this year because I know I can be doing other things with my time that are much more useful. This one may be one of the hardest goals to maintain throughout the year because it's something I've become so used to over time and is usually my go-to when I have nothing else to do.
Looking back at my goals for 2016, I found that I was able to accomplish a few. My first was to read five books this year and I was able to do that! I enjoyed reading so much and I can't wait to grab a few more this year. Running more was my next goal and while I didn't run as much as I had originally imagined, I was able to become a faster runner throughout the year. 2016 was an amazing year and I can't wait to see what's next.
