Austin in Pictures
Over Memorial Day weekend, I got to spend the day with some friends from Norman here in Austin, and we found some cute photo ops along the way. I only got to meet up with them for a few hours in the middle of the day, but we spent a lot of our time on South Congress (the best place to go if you want to see the really cool side of Austin). There were so many places I had never been to before! The photo above was taken at Magnolia Cafe.
I LOVE how cute and colorful this wall is. This one is in the backyard of the Tom's store and coffee shop on South Congress. I'm not sure how busy it gets on the weekdays, but this would be a cool place to grab a cup of coffee and relax for a while. The backyard is beautiful and would be a nice place to take in the Texas weather with some iced coffee in the summertime.
If you try to look at the background of this photo you may get a little dizzy, but this is right in front of the original Whole Foods at 5th and Lamar. Whole Foods is my absolute favorite place to eat lunch and it can't hurt that they have tons of free parking (something I've learned to love as a college student). Finding parking is one of my least favorite things (especially in a city - I become very stressy very fast) so it's nice to have in such a busy place. If you're anywhere in Austin, you should probably get tacos for lunch, but especially at Whole Foods - so good.
I took this photo at the very top of Graffiti Park. My favorite part of the area was getting a panoramic view of the entire downtown area (and the capitol building!) straight out from the park. Graffiti Park is where artists are invited to spray paint anywhere in the large Castle Hill area. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there were tons of artists spray painting right then. The art is always changing so it would be worth it to continue going back.
This sign just happened to be there but I love how blunt and calming it is. There are Bee Movement signs all around Austin. You can read more about what they're doing here.
