What I've Learned as a College Freshmen
It was a short (long?) first year of college and I am so excited to be sharing this post with you. My freshmen year was full of interesting new classes, new friends, and so much rowing and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
- Don't freak out. There are few things worth freaking out about and whatever the case may be, I'm sure it's fixable. Remember, you can't control the uncontrollable so don't try to. Trying to control what cannot be controlled is just too hard on yourself and not worth your time.
- Spend time. Whether its time actually doing your homework or much needed time with friends, make sure to create time for the things you want to do. It's very easy to get caught up in the little things. There is a very big chance you will still have time to finish your homework and go for a run.
- Organization is Key. I am a huge fan of being very organized and keeping a planner of my daily tasks. Especially at the beginning of the semester when you're still getting used to new classes, I found it so useful to use my Lilly Planner to stay on track (PS - I found the first two weeks of the semester to be the hardest because it usually takes me a few days to get used to how professors work and what they want from students. Staying organized helps so much!)
- Give change a chance. There are going to be so many new things that you've never experienced before. Keep an open mind and don't be afraid to make a change. Use your judgment when doing things but remember, you never know until you try.
