Day Trip to Tulsa

Day Trip to Tulsa

Yesterday my roommate, Caroline, and I took a short road trip to Tulsa for the day - where Caroline is from! She's in love with this city and now I can see why. Tulsa has such a charming vibe with big city streets that aren't crazy busy and an authentic feel. It's the littlest big city (biggest little city?!) I've ever seen.

EAT // We arrived in Tulsa around 1:30 so our first stop was Elote Cafe for lunch. Caroline had already told me about their famous puffy tacos and how amazing they are so of course, I had to try them. Those were by far the best tacos I've ever had, so good! It's a soft taco shell and the "puffy" part is the most perfect thing ever. I can't exactly explain it but you should try it for yourself if you ever get the chance. So good!

For dinner we had In the Raw, a sushi restaurant. I'm not a sushi person so for anyone like me, I would recommend the teriyaki bowl. It was delicious! For dessert we got the gateau and it was the best end to our Tulsa eats for the day.

SHOP// After we were stuffed with tortilla chips and puffy tacos, we walked around the downtown area. Tulsa has some really great shops that are what give it so much of its character. I always love homegrown shops because they are authentic and you can feel good about shopping small too!

The Boxyard was one of my favorites; it is 39 shipping containers connected to make a small shopping area with shops ranging from clothing boutiques to a science shop and even The Water Co. (PS: check them out, they're doing some pretty cool things). C and I bought matching sunglasses at My Mod Mess. An impulse buy is always a good buy!

DRINK // It wouldn't be a C & E outing without a stop for coffee. We chose to get coffee from Gypsy Coffee House where Caroline got tea and I got my usual mocha. The coffee was amazing and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I wish Gypsy was in Norman so I could study there every weekend!

These places are all around Tulsa so wherever you are in town, make sure to see some of these great spots. A huge thank you to Caroline for showing me around all day and welcoming me into her lovely town!

xoxo, emily
